The first ever South African Indoor Nationals is taking place at Bodyflight Bedford on April 1st 2016. Almost a month later the SA Outdoor Nationals is being held at Pretoria Skydiving Club. So whether you would like to participate in the Indoor Nationals, the Outdoor Nationals or just want to improve your freefall skills then this camp is for you.
SAVOLO will be heading to Bedford for the competition and we would love a few teams to join us. The more we have in the SA contingent the more fun it will be. The SSA has only officially announced plans for a Formation Skydiving event although there are freefly events going on also. In the FS event there will be novice, intermediate and open categories so teams of all skill levels can compete.
If you would like to compete at Bedford (of the outdoor nationals) and do not have a team then let us know and we could attempt to put a few of you together with a SAVOLO member for the camp and the competition.
We have booked 20 hours over 4 days. Some of the hours are really late at night and some are during regular daytime hours. We initially chose the Russian tunnel since the rates are a lot better than Prague and the tunnels in the UK. Usually a LOT better. It’s a busy period for all tunnels and it’s school holidays in Russia for the same week we are there so we had to really work to find time available.
Because of the holiday time period all the hours at the tunnel are classified as ‘peak’ hours which are considerably more expensive than normal hours. In the future we expect to be able to run this camp for about €400 per hour. It still works out to cost less than the same time in Prague (more than €100 per hour) and the timing is right for the teams that would like to continue on to Bedford. Plus you get to take advantage of the entire SAVOLO team (Alex, Amy, Bailey & Debbie) for coaching. The 24th and 28th of March as are also public holidays so you can use the 24th to travel, explore St Petersburg on the 25th and then we start on 26 (actually late night 25th). You depart on the 30th so you only need 2 days leave from work.
If you have a 2-way team then consider doing 2 hours (you each pay for 1 hour only) and if you have a 4-way team 3 or 4 hours split between you would be great. For individual flyers we recommend 2 or 3 hours over the course of the 4 days depending on your goals. We recommend 2 hours to get through our basic FS curriculum. If you are learning to freefly you would want to consider the same or a bit more.
